Excellente
This was my first surround sound ever (that i've owned/bought) and I could not be happier. My headphones (Sennheiser HD280 Pro's) sound got 3x better with the receiver's amp and DAC (Digital Audio Converter). Along with my audio coming from my Mac Pro via optical or from my PS3 vi HDMI, it is stunning how much better my headphone's quality got. Not to mention the CinemaDSP settings that to my surprise are actually good! Most of those settings on most devices blow. Thats just the headphones!The speakers work great. Though i confess i'm not a speaker guru by any stretch, and i know these are *far* from top of the line, they do a great job when playing really loud music (i listen to mostly dark electro, EBM, aggrotech, or industrial) and i always get the feeling of immersion. Also the CinemaDSP settings are fantastic with music and movies alike. Usually i like to keep it on "Direct" mode (pure original signal with 0 post-processing whatsoever) but sometimes if the movies...

Great product!
The salesman at a large electronics store recommended this system to us. It was not originally on our list, but after researching it and finding a great price through a third party Amazon vendor, we ordered it. The system is solid and well built, was easy to install and sounds great! It was a little more than we wanted to spend, but definitely worth it. Very happy with the purchase.

amazing for the price
My husband is a sound freak. He loves turning up the volume so you feel like you are in a theater. We had a Yamaha 5.1 surround sound for some time, maybe 8 years. We never set the speakers right (mounting them) so 2 of them fell and no longer worked. We started to research and research new systems. Ultimately he wanted a Bose system, I told him 2K for surround sound your crazy!So he went right back to Yamaha and we are so glad we did. we purchased on Amazon for 700 (at the time it kept going up and down in price) and we hooked it up on Christmas day and are SO happy we upgrade. Use a nice copper 12 gauge wire and read the instructions for speaker placement suggestions for your room....also do the sound test with the microphone they send with it. It let us know how to make adjustments and now it knows where all the speakers are.
